Hebrew Classes Possible (Based on Interest)
Beginner Hebrew - Ivrit: This course teaches you how to read Hebrew and exposes you to modern spoken Hebrew as well as siddur (prayer book) Hebrew.
Classes meet from March 6 – June 19 on alternate Tuesday evenings at 7:00 – 8:30 pm in Bethpage. Fee: $120 + cost of textbook. Please RSVP by February 13; minimum of six students needed for the class.
More Hebrew - Ivrit: This course is for those who already read basic Hebrew, and want ‘more’, both siddur (prayer book) and Torah Hebrew and modern/ conversational Hebrew.
Classes meet from March 13 – June 26 on alternate Tuesday evenings at 7:00 – 8:30 pm in Bethpage. Fee: $120 + cost of textbook. Please RSVP by February 13; minimum of six students needed for the class.
Torah and/or Haftarah Trope This is an opportunity to learn trope, the cantillation marks that inform how each word is chanted. You will be able to use this skill to chant short passages of Torah for a Shabbat or holiday service, or for a family simcha.
Classes meet on alternate Shabbat afternoons at 12:00 pm beginning March 3. Fee is $120. Please let us know if you are interested.
NEW!! Adult B'nai Mitzvah Class
Perhaps you never had the opportunity to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah when you were 13 years old. Or perhaps you did, but the experience was not especially meaningful for you, and you would like to remedy that. Or maybe you just want to learn what didn’t ‘stick’ as a child. Whatever your personal reason, we want to take this journey with you.
Prerequisite: Beginning Hebrew Reading Class (see above) or a basic knowledge of Hebrew. This class will launch in the Fall of 2018, and will culminate in a group B’nai Mitzvah in the late Spring of 2019.

Shabbat Morning Torah Study - Ongoing
We will gather bi-weekly at the Bethpage Worship Center Jerusalem Classroom
to share in learning and community. No prior knowledge is needed. Texts will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own version of a Torah Commentary. Sherry Gutes and/or Rabbi Bravo lead the conversations.

Rosh Chodesh Monthy Gatherings for Women - Ongoing
Rosh Chodesh is the beginning of a new Jewish month; it is a special time that is marked by Jewish women around the world through study and learning together. Makom NY holds a monthly Rosh Chodesh for women in the homes of our participants. We come together - to learn, to share and to discuss a topic of choice.

Book Club - Open to All
Calling all readers! Makom’s Book Club meets every six weeks or so in Bethpage Worship Center, in the Jerusalem Classroom, to engage in lively conversation on a Jewish-themed book.
