MAKOMNY

A NEW KIND OF JEWISH COMMUNITY

MakomNY MOADON

Special Shorashim Program for Moadon Families

MOADON SHORASHIM PROGRAM

Over the past decade, Moadon has grown from 22 students in the Rabbi’s basement to 260 children – nearly at capacity - in Bethpage. The growth of our Makom community over these 10 years is, in large part, due to our Moadon families.

Our families have instilled their trust in us to teach their children, officiate at their life cycle events, offer prayer and healing services, participate in Mitzvah Projects and welcome everyone to Shabbat celebrations and the High Holy Days year after year.

Our Moadon families have helped turn our community into a mishpacha (family). And because we are family, the greater Makom community and our leadership is here whenever you need us—to celebrate milestones and mitzvahs, to support our community in times of need or loss, and everything in between.

When we created Makom, we knew that this would be a new and unique model for Jewish community, and it is something of which we are very proud.  Over the past 10 years, we have relied on the generosity of our community through donations—whether one-time donations, sponsorships, and, most significantly, our Shorashim Donation Program. Shorashim in Hebrew means “roots,” and the continuing contributions from our Shorashim Donors allow our community to grow and flourish.
Now celebrating 10 years, we realize that we need all our Moadon families to truly ‘belong’ to Makom.

We are excited to announce that beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, all Moadon families with children in grades 3 - 7 will become Shorashim with a minimum monthly recurring donation of $54.

When you are Shorashim, you truly ‘belong’.  Please view a video HERE with Rabbi Bravo and a Moadon parent, discussing the importance of the Makom community.

What does this mean for you?  Becoming Shorashim eliminates most per-program fees, including all High Holy Day programs and services, Shabbat dinners at the Bravo home, Teen Programming, Women’s Rosh Chodesh groups, Adult Learning classes, Family Programs and so much more.

Becoming Shorashim ensures that your Makom community continues to grow and to thrive, and fulfills our mission of creating a relevant, inspiring and accessible Jewish future - for your children today and for future generations.

We look forward to another exciting and enriching year of learning with your children.  And we also look forward to your participation in our Makom community of services, programs, projects and classes. Because…you belong!
