Makom [Mah-KOHM] means place in Hebrew. We are a place to created to help find your individual space in Jewish life. We are a place inclusive of those of all different backgrounds. We are a place you can put down roots and flourish, A place to make connections, build relationships, and find personal peace. MakomNY: Why We Are Here We are here for those looking to find greater meaning in their lives, to celebrate holidays, and mark lifecycle events. We are here for all who desire to engage in community, cultural activities and to find quality learning at all ages. We are here for those who want to see a strong Jewish future for their children, and feel the importance of contributing to Jewish life. We are here for you and because of you! MakomNY was founded as a New Model for Jewish Community, one with exceptional programming, yet without traditional membership dues or building fund. MakomNY has brought together many people in the community looking for meaningful, relevant Jewish experiences. While people find us and engage for various reasons, we are united by our roots and in our hopes for a better future. We offer the highest level programming and inspiring worship. Our Model enables per-program-donations, and offers an accessible monthly donation program that enables us to exist and meet the growing, changing and emerging needs of our community. Our Voluntary Contribution Program: The Shorashim Donation Program Shorashim [Shore-AH -Sheem] = Roots in Hebrew Participants make a minimum monthly donation (or annual if preferred) and receive all the benefits and more of a thriving, active, relevant Jewish community, without per-program donations, including: High Holy Day Service Reservations Personalized connection with talented and experienced Rabbi Creative and mindful services and events Shabbat dinners at the Rabbi's home Teen programming Traditional and progressive worship and programs Women's groups, Study groups, Discussion groups, etc. Flourishing program Social justice and cultural activities *without additional per-program fees, excluding major holiday meals and school SIGN UP FOR OUR VOLUNTARY SHORASHIM DONATION PROGRAM HERE A donation you can feel good about into the future.
