CHANUKAH EXPERIENCES
Chanukah, the eight-day “festival of lights” is celebrated by lighting with traditional Chanukah Menorah, 'Chanukiah', for eight nights, with special prayers, and by eating fried foods such as potato latkes and jelly donuts. Chanukah celebrates two things: 1) A miracle in which one day’s worth of oil burned for eight days 2) The victory of the Jewish freedom fighters over the Syrian-Greek forces that tried to wipe out Judaism in the second century B.C.E. At MakomNY, we always have lively and joy-filled musical Chanukah celebrations. This year we will join for Chanukah at the following festive gatherings: Family Moadon Chanukah Program Saturday, November 20th at 4:00-5:30pm Bethpage Worship Center RSVP HERE Chanukah-Shabbat Celebration Friday, December 3rd at 5:30pm and 7:30pm Join us for one of these 2 Shabbat Chanukah services.
