INTERESTED? PLEASE CLICK THE BUTTON BELOW TO REGISTER!

This is an amazing opportunity - one-of-a-kind on Long Island! - to build and broaden a wide range of skills for our young musicians in a very warm and welcoming environment.

We'll have fun learning about, playing, and performing Klezmer music -- a kind of Jewish party music that includes a wide range of styles, from traditional to jazz-y. Fiddler-on-the-Roof music is one style, but there are many variations. Professional musician, band leader, and composer Aaron Alexander will lead the group. He has performed all over the world and teaches students and groups of all ages.

Who can join:
5th-12th Graders with at least 1 year playing experience on any instrument.

When:
Class Sessions - Thursdays 4:00pm-5:30pm at the Bethpage Worship Center, unless otherwise noted
  • January 23, 30
  • February 6, 13, 27
  • March 6, 13
  • April 3, 24
  • May 1, 12*
* We will meet on Monday, May 12 at 6:00pm at a Local Senior Living Community. Additional details will be provided to all registered students.

Performances:
  • Sunday in February or March, exact date TBD - performance at a local synagogue (additional details will be provided to all registered students)
  • Friday, May 2, 4:45pm-8:45pm (Musical Shabbat) at the Bethpage Worship Center (includes rehearsal, performance and dinner for band members)

     * Performance opportunities may be modified or added over the course of the season.

If we need to cancel a session for any reason, we will do our best to find a make-up date.

Fee: $400

(There is a minimum number of students to make this program go!)
