TEEN PROGRAMS:
MAKOM TEENS TAKING ON THE WORLD
MakomNY offers multiple ways for our teens to engage with Rabbi Bravo, Sherry Gutes, recent Makom college graduates, community leaders, and one another in new and meaningful ways.
We offer a wide variety of ways for teens to engage Jewishly and in the greater community. We are also collaborating with local Jewish communities so that we can all enhance and strengthen our teen programs. All Makom Teen Programs are open to ALL JEWISH TEENS in our greater geographic area. 1. MADRICHIM PROGRAM Madrichim is a Teaching Assistant program for post-Bar and Bat Mitzvah students (8th-12 graders) to work and engage with our younger Moadon students. This takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during our Moadon Hebrew School. Not only will teens learn to work with younger children, but they will also learn basic skills in discussion group leading, facilitation of lessons, one-on-one Hebrew teaching, role modeling and much more. TEEN MOADON Teen Moadon is a program geared toward the entire 8th-12th grade population, because there is a little something for everyone. We will meet mainly on Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:30pm, sharing in dinner, discussions, mitzvah projects and more. This program is meant to be social, educational and community oriented. Occasionally we will meet off site as well, in order to partake in the greater Long Island community. We will meet monthly on Monday evenings at Rabbi Bravo's Home, where we will talk with recent college graduates, learn from experts in the high school and college world, and better prepare our teens for college, next steps and beyond.
