HIGH HOLY DAYS 2020/5781
Welcome to the High Holy Days at MakomNY. Celebrate the joy and holiness of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with us.
The MakomNY community welcomes those from all backgrounds to share the High Holy Days with us. We have intentionally created a place to help meet the emerging and changing needs of our diverse Jewish community. High Holy Day programming at MakomNY includes services, adult learning, quiet reflection, thoughtful discussion and spiritual flourishing, special family activities and more. Our High Holy Day Services include Hebrew prayers with transliteration, as well as beautiful spiritual readings, meditations and insights in English. It is important to us that all are able to follow and participate in the way they find comfortable and fulfilling. Because we are living in the time of a pandemic, our High Holy Days this year will look different from years past, yet we believe they will feel similar. We are working hard to plan an exciting and engaging schedule of services and programs, most of which will be online, some of which will be in small group in-person, with appropriate social distancing measures. We will also be embracing THE MONTH OF ELUL, the Hebrew month prior to Rosh Hashanah, and we invite you to join us in ELUL PROGRAMMING, in order to better prepare for the High Holy Days this year. Since most of our programs will be online, and people have limited attention while online, we hope these additional offerings will further prepare you for the New Year. 2020/5781 HIGH HOLY DAY REGISTRATION FORM CLICK HERE MakomNY Elul and High Holy Day Highlights: Special Elul Meditations Elul Torah Study on High Holy Day Portions Elul Family Experiences Elul Opportunities for Creating Sacred Space at Home Elul Cooking for Rosh Hashanah: Apples and Challah High Holy Day Mitzvah Project Special High Holy Day 'Bag of Sweets' for All Registered Individuals and Families Erev Rosh Hashanah Blessings and Sharing of Sacred Spaces Special Family Services and Young Family Services for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Second Day of Rosh Hashanah Activities and Service Communal Tashlich Ceremonies (in Small Groups with Social Distancing) at Private Beachfront Special Shofar Opportunities New Musical Kol Nidre Experience with Song and Sermon Yom Kippur Yizkor Service with Special Video Remembrance MakomNY High Holy Day 2020/5781 Schedule of Events Join Rabbi Deborah Bravo and Cantorial Soloist Jessica Steinman: Most High Holy Day Experiences will occur online.
