MAKOMNY

A NEW KIND OF JEWISH COMMUNITY

SHABBAT EXPERIENCES

At MakomNY we celebrate Shabbat together in different places and different ways: Musical Friday night Services, intimate Shabbat Dinners, Torah Study, morning Shabbat services and a variety of special Shabbat experiences.

Musical Shabbat Services

A Musical Shabbat Experience
We gather on select Friday evenings (often the First Friday of the month, and sometimes more) for Community Musical Shabbat Experiences. We sing together, pray together, and simply join together as a community to support one another.  This experience is a great way to have a spiritual and uplifting celebration of Shabbat.
Come with friends and meet new ones as well. Share in the joy of Shabbat. Introduce new people to MakomNY. We look forward to getting to know you.

Friday Evening Shabbat Dinners at Rabbi Bravo's Home

Shabbat Dinner
We want to get to know every participant in the MakomNY community. Please join us at Rabbi Bravo's Home in Woodbury for a casual potluck Shabbat dinner. We gather on select Friday evenings for Shabbat dinners, singing, community and more. We begin with the Shabbat blessings, and then have a joyous informal Shabbat dinner. We make matzah ball soup, chickens and homemade challah. You can choose to bring a salad, side dish or dessert.

Select Friday evenings typically at 7:00pm.
Spaces are limited so please register in advance.

Summertime Shabbat in the Park Services

Shabbat in the Park
During the summer months, we enjoy the nice weather by joining together for a musical, casual, lively Shabbat in the Park experience. We begin casually with Bring Your Own Picnic dinner, and then we join in a participatory service. We meet under the pavilion at the park in Plainview, and there is a playground near by for children to play.

June-August @ Plainview-Old Bethpage Park, Plainview.

Shabbat Morning Torah Study

Torah Study
We gather most Shabbat mornings in more intimate spaces for Torah Study and learning. We dig deep into the text, examining carefully the commentaries and the story. Newcomers and experienced learners are all welcome.

Shabbat Morning Services

Shabbat Services
We gather often on Shabbat mornings in prayer and community, celebrating with our B'nai Mitzvah students. We typically gather at the Bethpage Worship Center, and all are invited for this lovely service, led by Rabbi Bravo, often with a Cantorial soloist, and our B'nai Mitzvah students. We offer prayers of healing and mourning, for those in need.
